Grudco-Mullan was born from a simple idea: combine the experience of two professionals, bound by a long-standing friendship and shared values, to offer businesses and individuals legal guidance that is both rigorous and deeply human as well as strategic.
Our story begins in 2008, when Me Irina Grudco and Me Sonja Mullan met during the Certificate in Industrial Relations at the Université de Montréal. A year later, both were selected to enter the Bachelor's program in Industrial Relations. Over the course of their studies, a strong friendship developed, grounded in a shared vision of work: integrity, excellence, rigour, mutual support and a commitment to always act with professionalism.
After graduating in 2011, their paths diverged, but remained guided by the same passion: getting involved where the issues are most complex and helping clients find concrete solutions.
Me Irina Grudco went on to study law at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and built a career as a lawyer and legal advisor across a range of areas. Her expertise spans labour relations, intellectual property, business law, dispute resolution and mediation. This breadth of experience gives her a comprehensive view of the legal issues facing businesses and individuals alike. Known for her strategic approach, she favours negotiation to reach effective agreements, while remaining ready to firmly defend her clients' interests when the situation calls for it.
Me Sonja Mullan, meanwhile, pursued a career in human resources management, labour relations and regulatory compliance. Over more than fifteen years, she held senior leadership positions advising employers in the private and public sectors, notably in construction, transportation, policing, and the mining and industrial sectors. Her approach, always oriented toward risk management and legal compliance, made her a recognized strategic partner. Driven by a desire to offer her clients an even more complete form of support, she in turn undertook studies in law.
Nearly 15 years after they first started their careers, their paths crossed again. By then, Me Grudco had founded her own firm, GI-LAW, while Me Mullan was launching her legal practice.
It quickly became clear that their areas of expertise complemented each other naturally, and that they shared the same vision of their profession.
"We believe a good legal advisor doesn't simply tell a client what to do. They take the time to explain, to educate and to build a relationship of trust, so that every decision is made with full understanding — not out of fear or uncertainty. We have worked at the heart of organizations. We know their realities, their challenges and their constraints, because we have lived them. It's this hands-on experience that allows us to offer support that is legal, strategic and deeply human all at once."
And that is how Grudco-Mullan came to be —
By bringing together nearly 30 years of combined experience, we have built a firm that goes beyond simple legal advice. We understand the operational realities of businesses, the challenges of human resources management, regulatory requirements, our clients' business objectives, and the human issues at stake. This understanding allows us to propose concrete, pragmatic solutions tailored to each situation.
Today, Grudco-Mullan is above all the reflection of a relationship of trust that has lasted more than fifteen years. We believe that the law should be accessible, that every client deserves to be listened to attentively, and that the best solutions come from a genuine understanding of their needs.
Whether you are a growing business, an employer, an entrepreneur or an individual, our commitment remains the same: to provide you with quality, personalized legal support geared toward lasting results.
